Abstract Developments in digital data capture and storage make it possible to archive much information relating to our life experiences in personal digital lifelogs. Personal lifelog archives can contain everything from items read, written, or downloaded; to footage from life experiences, e.g. photographs taken, videos seen, music heard, details of places visited, details of people met, etc. Information can be captured from a myriad of personal information devices including desktop computers, PDAs, digital cameras, mobile phones, and various sensors, including GPS, Bluetooth, and biometric devices.
Finding important relevant items from within these archives in response to user queries, or presenting interesting data to a subject browsing through their archive, poses significant challenges. Any additional information which can assist in identifying important items is thus potentially very useful. The iCLIPS project is concerned with the development and evaluation of methods for search of personal archives.
This presentation will describe the background to lifelogging and search of peronal information archives, design and collection of experimental personal archives of 18 months in duration for the project, and summarise results of our experimental investigatations to date.
Further details of the iCLIPS project can be found at: http://www.cdvp.dcu.ie/iCLIPS/.
Participation The seminar will be presented in English. No charge to participate and no reservation is needed.
